Where to Buy a Lab-Grown Diamond
Who you buy a lab-grown diamond from matters as much as the stone itself. We explain the six things to look for in a seller and how to choose the right stone.

Short answer: Buy a lab-grown diamond from a seller who says clearly that the stone was grown in a laboratory, provides its independent certificate, shows real photos of the pieces they make and gives you the characteristics in writing. Buying from a place that produces in its own workshop lets more of the price go to the stone and means you know exactly who to talk to for resizing and maintenance.
Six things to look for in a trustworthy seller
1. A clear statement
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, but it is priced differently from a natural one. A seller who does not avoid saying “lab-grown diamond” and writes it clearly on the product page and the invoice is showing the first sign of trust. Stay away from a seller who leaves this distinction vague.
2. An independent certificate
Independent laboratories such as IGI issue separate reports for lab-grown diamonds. The report states the carat, cut, colour and clarity, and that the stone was grown in a laboratory. You can check the report number on the laboratory’s website. How to read a certificate.
3. Real product photos
A catalogue image describes a design; seeing pieces the seller has actually made tells you a lot about their workmanship. You can see real photos of pieces made in our workshop in the model gallery.
4. Characteristics in writing
The stone’s carat, shape, colour and clarity grades and cut grade; the gold purity; and the total carat of any side stones. Having these in writing makes comparison possible, and so does claiming your rights later.
5. Who does the production?
A producer with its own workshop chooses the stone, makes the setting itself and checks quality from start to finish. When resizing, a prong check or maintenance is needed, you know where to go. Our workshop has been producing in Istanbul since 2020 with a team of 35 craftspeople. About us.
6. Being reachable
Look for a seller with a known address who answers your questions clearly and quickly. The answers you get before a sale are a sign of the relationship after it.
Shop, online, workshop: the differences
| Ready-made shop piece | Made for you in a workshop | |
|---|---|---|
| Stone choice | The stone in the window | You choose the shape, carat and quality |
| Design | A ready-made design | A design from the gallery or your own |
| Size | The existing size, or an adjustment | Made to your size |
| Waiting | Immediate | The production time |
Ask the seller: “Was this stone grown in a laboratory, which laboratory issued its report, and can I check the number?” If you cannot get clear answers to these three questions, look at other options too before you decide.
How should you choose the stone?
With lab-grown diamonds the budget stretches to a bigger stone of the same quality, so it is important not to compromise on cut while going up in carat. For colour and clarity, eye clean is enough. Detailed guides: the 4Cs of diamonds and what to check when buying a diamond ring.
