Diamond Bracelet Styles: From Tennis Bracelets to Bangles
Tennis, solitaire chain, station and bangle: we explain the diamond bracelet styles, how they sit on the wrist and what to check when choosing.

Short answer: The most loved diamond bracelet designs are: the tennis bracelet (a flexible bracelet in which the stones circle the wrist without a break), the solitaire chain (a single stone on a fine chain), the station bracelet (stones spaced along a chain) and the bangle (a rigid bracelet that opens and closes). For everyday wear, the solitaire chain and the slim tennis bracelet stand out; for special occasions, tennis bracelets with large stones and bangles. When choosing, wrist size, total carat and clasp security are decisive.
Diamond bracelet designs
Tennis bracelet
Diamonds of the same size circle the wrist in an unbroken row; the most classic diamond bracelet. A detailed guide: what is a tennis bracelet · tennis bracelet design.
Solitaire chain bracelet
A single diamond at the centre of a fine chain. Light, graceful and worn every day; it looks lovely with a watch or other bracelets too. Solitaire bracelet design.
Station bracelet
Small diamonds set at intervals along a chain. Lighter and more affordable than a tennis bracelet; the light sparkles around the wrist in points.
Bangle
A rigid round or oval form that opens and closes on a hinge or slips over the hand. It can have a row of diamonds or a single stone on top. A strong, modern presence.
Baguette bracelet
A row of baguettes, or a mixed arrangement of baguette and round stones; a clean, modern light. The baguette cut.
Wrist size
Measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone with a tape measure or a piece of string:
- Tennis and chain bracelets: add 1–1.5 cm to your measurement; the bracelet should move a little on the wrist.
- Bangles: for designs that open and close, use your wrist measurement; for designs that slip on, use the widest part of your hand.
When we make it for you, the length is adjusted to your wrist.
Total carat
In a bracelet, carat is the total of all the stones. A slim tennis bracelet looks graceful at around 1–2 carats in total; 3–5 carats is noticeable, and more is glamorous. On a solitaire chain, carat is the weight of the single stone; 0.10–0.50 carat is much loved. What is a carat?
Clasp and security
A bracelet is the piece of jewellery that moves most during the day, so its clasp must be strong. A box clasp with a safety catch on tennis bracelets, and a hinge with a safety pin on bangles, are the most secure arrangements. Checking the clasp regularly keeps the risk of loss to a minimum.
With a watch: if it will share a wrist with a watch, bezel-set or slim tennis designs will not scratch the watch. Wearing them on different wrists protects both pieces.
